The 7 Movies That Will Get You Into The Theater This Fall

For a while, I couldn't imagine going to the theater to see a movie again. I got used to watching them at home with the convenience of unlimited access to snacks and the ability to hit “pause” if I needed to use the bathroom.

However, when Wicked was released, I had to see it immediately and couldn't wait for it to become available on streaming services. Sitting in the theater surrounded by moviegoers, I realized all the things I was missing when I watched a movie on my couch. Between the big screen, the surround sound and the energy of the other enthusiastic moviegoers, I was more immersed in the experience. I didn't try to multitask like I do at home. My phone was on silent, and for over two hours, I became wholly absorbed in the world depicted in front of me. I felt the same way a few weeks later when I saw the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown in a theater.

Regretting You – October 24, 2025

Regretting You

The adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel It Ends With Us was released in 2024, and this year, another one of her bestsellers hits the big screen. Regretting You tells the story of a mother named Morgan (Allison Williams) and her daughter, Clara (McKenna Grace). The two already have a strained relationship when tragedy strikes. After Morgan's husband Chris and sister Jenny die in a car accident, Morgan and Clara must find a way to grieve and move forward together.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere — October 24, 2025

I’m not sure there is anyone as excited about the upcoming Bruce Springsteen movie as my husband (I think he has watched the recently released trailer at least 20 times). Deliver Me From Nowhere stars Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as Springsteen and Jeremy Strong (Succession) as Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau. The movie tells the story of the making of Springsteen's classic 1982 album Nebraska. The Boss himself has been involved in the project and has nothing but praise for White's performance, calling him "a terrific actor" who "sings very well." (Yes, White does his own vocals for the film.)

The Running Man — November 7, 2025

The Running Man

This remake of the 1987 film, based on Stephen King’s novel, stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards (played in the original by Arnold Schwarzenegger), Daniel Ezra (All-American) and Josh Brolin. The premise resembles Squid Game or The Hunger Games, where contestants in a reality TV show evade killers to win prize money.

 

Wicked: For Good — November 21, 2025

WICKED FOR GOOD

I've been waiting for Part II of Wicked to come to theaters since the closing credits of Part I appeared on the screen. Wicked: For Good reunites Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and picks up at the end of the first installment. Without sharing any spoilers for those who haven’t seen Part I, the sequel delves into what happens when two best friends choose different life paths.

Ella McCay — December 12, 2025

In this dramedy written and directed by the legendary James L. Brooks, an idealist young politician struggles to balance her career and family life. Emma Mackey plays the title role of Ella, alongside an ensemble of well-known actors, including Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Housemaid — December 25, 2025

Based on the popular book by author Freida McFadden, The Housemaid tells the story of a young woman named Millie (Sydney Sweeney), an ex-convict seeking a fresh start. Millie takes a job as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy couple, Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew (Brendon Sklenar). Millie soon learns that there are more messes in this house than just dirty dishes and overfilled laundry hampers. This psychological thriller, told from multiple perspectives, will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Marty Supreme — December 25, 2025

 

Set in the 1950s, this drama is loosely based on a true story and stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Reisman, a renowned table tennis player. Reisman, known as "The Needle," was born and raised in Manhattan. At 13, he became the junior table tennis champion and continued to win competitions as he got older. He was also a heavy gambler, and his ability to make and lose fortunes was as legendary as his ping-pong skills. Gwyneth Paltrow (in her first significant role in 15 years) plays Chalamet's love interest and Fran Drescher plays his mother.
